Leather Stamp Collaboration

Leather Stamp Collaboration

Rogue Journeymen is a leather goods brand in the Topanga Canyon area of Los Angeles that is sold exclusively at the bike shop, Topanga Creek Outpost. You can see the history of the brand on their website. The owner, Chris Kelly, was looking for a way to speed up creation of stamps for the leather goods he and his team create when collaborating on projects with short runs. He turned to our team to help with this endeavor.

The longest lasting leather stamps are usually made of metal to endure the high pressure required for a press to emboss the image in leather. Metal stamps are costly and time consuming to make. The time to make a stamp is, at times, at odds with the desired speed to a final product. We worked with Chris to test a few types of 3D printed stamps. Various line thicknesses were tested and several types of resin were included with different results. We have, over time, landed on a combination of size and materials that is effective for quick turn-around, short runs for the team.
